Selenium for cancer defence and prevention
Cancers-Journal of American Medical Association Vol 276, num 24;pp 1957-1963 Dec 1996. Effects of Selenium supplementation in Cancer prevention in patient with Carcinoma of the Skin. Larry C Clarke, et al.
Original NPC trial results effected by the use of selenium.
• All causes of mortality down 17%
• Total Cancer mortality down 50%
• Total Cancer incidents down 37%
• Lung Cancer incidents down 46%
• Colon Cancer incidents down 58%
• Prostate Cancer incidents down 63%
Selenium’s affect in limiting Cancers is well documented, it’s action is that of antioxidant and angiogenic (limiting of blood supply to tumour cells.) These properties are thought to be fundamental in its preventative action.
Cancer Limitation
Interest in organically-bound, high-bioavailable selenium heightened in 1966 when the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), published results from Dr Larry C.Clark's Nutritional Prevention of Cancer (NPC) trial, which showed that organically-bounded selenium cut overall cancer death rates by 50%, prostate cancer incidence by 63%, lung cancer by 46% and colon cancer by 58%.
